These classic men's tortoise plastic vintage eyeglasses are in mint condition and ready for prescription lenses or sunglasses. The bridge is marked ''MARINE 51-19'' and the arms read ''MARINE U.S.A. 6''. The plastic has a nice sheen with no cracks, crazing or discoloration and the rivets shine bright.
These are great Wayfarer-inspired frames by Marine, a prolific maker from the 1960s. They're unused vintage stock, never worn, never lensed. Nice keyhole bridge, cool shaped temples, strong seven-barrel hinges and the zyl is a really nice tortoise pattern and color. Most all plastic frames have a wire inside the temples, but Marine made their frames with a wire inside the frame, too. This makes for a very strong bridge and frame front that holds it's shape. Note the detail on the wire inside the temples, a nice detail we don't see these days. Great frames in a generous vintage size, ready to go!
Temples are measured their full length, hinge to tip, as though they were straightened out. Why? Because they're adjustable, so measurements to the bend vary based on maker and adjustment. Lens and bridge measurements are from lens edge to lens edge. Hinge to hinge is measured from screw to screw. All frames are thoroughly inspected before leaving the Attic. I'm thorough about condition so there are no surprises and these glasses are in mint condition. They'll make great everyday glasses or some very cool sunglasses.
