These classic silver round Windsor eyeglasses are brand new, mint condition and ready for your prescription lenses. The arms are engraved ''FRAME MADE IN ENGLAND ALGHA CE'' and the glasses are otherwise unmarked.
This is a newly minted frame made in England by Algha Works, a wonderful manufacturer. You may know them by their Savile Row eyewear, a famous line seen in movies, on movie stars, rock stars and even worn by the Queen. Algha Works has been in the eyeglass business since the 1930s with roots back to the 1920s. They still make frames using many of the same tools and techniques, these frames included! These have the traditional Windsor bridge and round rims and they're gold plated, then covered again with rhodium to achieve their fine silver finish.
Wire rims are flexible, so lenses can be made to a variety of shapes for this frame. This style comes round, but can also be worn with nearly round lenses or other shapes. Temples are measured their full length, hinge to tip, as though they were straightened out. Why? Because they're adjustable, so measurements to the bend will vary. Lens and bridge measurements are from lens edge to lens edge. Hinge to hinge is measured from screw to screw.
These are really great frames at a great price, ready to ship, ready to wear! They make super everyday glasses or some very cool sunglasses.
