These classic silver wire rim Shuron Ronstrong Ful-Vue eyeglass frames are brand new, mint condition and ready for prescription lenses or sunglasses. They come in a very wide range of sizes and both skull and cable temples. The frames in the photos are marked ''48'' on the bridge back and the arms read ''Shuron''. The other frame sizes are marked accordingly.
This frame is the contemporary Shuron Optical Ful-Vue frame, basically the same design they've used since before World War II, when so many GIs were outfitted with this frame. Shuron's model name for them is the ''Ronstrong'' or you'll also hear them called a ''P3 frame'' after the military jargon for the lens shape. Strong bridge and hinges, fine, bright gold finish, and clear, comfortable nose pads, nice and soft, too. These frames have the advantage of coming in sizes much, much larger than the old frames, which stopped at about a 46 mm lens width to keep lens weight to a minimum - they were real glass lenses back then, you know. These are available with lenses up to 2 3/16 inches (55 mm) and cable or skull temples up to a nice, long 6 3/4 inches (172 mm). They're also available in gold. I'm sometimes asked if this is a reproduction or the real thing? Well, it is not a vintage frame, but the design is mostly the same as the original and they're made by the same manufacturer, so it's hard to call them reproductions when they never stopped making them! The main differences between these frames and the oldies are that the nose pads are clear instead of the old Bakelite / mother of pearl style and that their earliest ones had a single, smooth line engraved into the rims and across the bridge. Otherwise, they're pretty much the same frames (frame sizes notwithstanding, of course). Because they're still made, it means replacement parts can be had with relative ease, something my vintage frame customers can tell you can be a real challenge. Nice frames, real classics, ready to go!
Wire rims are flexible, so lenses can be made to a variety of shapes for this frame. The typical style for this frame is a near-round lens shown in the images. Remember that temples are always measured their full length, hinge to tip, as though they were straightened out. Why? Because they're adjustable, so measurements to the bend vary. Lens and bridge measurements are from lens edge to lens edge. Hinge to hinge is measured from screw to screw. Ronstrong sunglass clip-ons are now available, newly introduced by Shuron. They come in all Ronsir sizes, complete with very nice grey or brown polarized lenses and a black clamshell case, too. They're quality clip-on frames and it's worth noting that unlike many clip-ons these days, they have an eyewire screw like the old ones always did. This means changing lenses in your clip-on frame a simple proposition, a nice feature. The price shown below is for clip-ons purchased with frames. You can order the Shuron P3 clip-on sunglasses with or without the matching eyeglasses here.
Your frames will be very thoroughly inspected before shipment so there are no surprises. It's also worth noting that Shuron frames carry a 1 year warranty. These really are classic frames that great everyday glasses or some very cool sunglasses.
Cable temple covers to fit these frames can be found here (3.0 heat shrink). If you have any questions about this pair of glasses or anything else, please don't hesitate to contact me. I try to answer all questions promptly.
