These classic G-man Malcolm X vintage black silver eyeglasses are in excellent condition and ready for prescription lenses or sunglasses. The bridge is marked ''20 AO 12K GF'', the frame is stamped ''6'' and the arms read ''AO American Optical 5 3/4''. The markings mean the lower half of the frame is 12 karat gold-filled.

This is a real classic frame from American Optical, probably the largest eyewear manufacturer back in the middle to late 1950's when these were made. The brows and temples are jet black plastic and the rims and brows are 12 karat white gold. They've been completely dismantled and cleaned thoroughly, even in places you'll never see. All the screws are tested and working well, so lenses should be straightforward. The hinges are nice and tight and the nose pads are clear and clean. These frames are in excellent condition.

How to measure for vintage frames.

Remember that temples are always measured their full length, hinge to tip, as though they were straightened out. Why? Because they're adjustable, so measurements to the bend will vary based on who wore the frame. Lens and bridge measurements are from lens edge to lens edge. Hinge to hinge is measured from screw to screw.

There are rub marks on the temples at the ears, not visible when worn. I'm thorough about condition so there are no surprises and these glasses are in excellent condition. They'll make great everyday glasses or some very cool sunglasses.
