These classic G-man Malcolm X vintage black and silver eyeglasses are in very good condition and ready for prescription lenses or sunglasses. The bridge is marked ''22 AO 1/10 12K GF'', the frame is marked ''8'' and the arms read ''6 American Optical''. The markings mean the lower half of the frame is 12 karat gold-filled (white gold). The arms and brows have a nice shine with no cracks or crazing and the AO shields, the ''wings'' shine bright.

This is the American Optical Sirmont model, a real classic frame, likely made in the middle 1950s. The brows and temples are plastic, jet black and the rims and bridge are silver (white gold). The nose pads are crystal clear, fresh, and the temples are a nice, generous length. The hinges are nice and tight, complete with the original AO ''Red Dot'' screws. The frames have been completely dismantled, cleaned and checked. All the screws are tested and working well, so lenses should be straightforward. Real classics, ready to go!

How to measure for vintage frames.

Remember that temples are always measured their full length, hinge to tip, as though they were straightened out. Why? Because they're adjustable, so measurements to the bend will vary based on who wore the frame. Also remember that temples can be changed, so if this length isn't quite right for you, let me know - I may have a matching pair! Lens and bridge measurements are from lens edge to lens edge. Hinge to hinge is measured from screw to screw.

There's wear on the temples back by the ears and some case-wear on the brows and temple corners, the kind of thing you see from taking them in and out of the case regularly. Nice pair of glasses ready to wear, ready for lenses. I'm thorough about condition so there are no surprises and these glasses are in very good condition. They'll make great everyday glasses or some very cool sunglasses.
