CLASSIC VINTAGE GOLD JDB RIMLESS 3 PIECE FRAMES
|
|
|
These classic gold rimless 3 piece antique eyeglasses are in mint condition and ready for
prescription lenses or sunglasses. The bridge is marked ''1/10 12K JDB'' and the arms read ''G&W 1/10 12K GF''. The markings mean the frame is 12 karat gold-filled. The bridge and rims are engraved with a dot and diamond pattern and the arms have an alternating diagonals pattern.

These are unused vintage stock frames, never worn since the day they were made back in the late 1920's or 1930's. The bridge style is what I consider a ''Cortland'' style after the American Optical frame model of that name. You'll see the screws all extend well past the backs of the fittings. They came this was from the manufacturer. Once fitted for lenses, your optician with cut and file the screws to the right length. It's always a treat to handle such a nice frame. I've displayed them here on
round lenses, but this style of bridge was also worn on octagonal lenses. Of course, one benefit to 3
piece frames is that you can select your lens shape and the size, too, so don't forget that any other shape is possible here, too, including the more contemporary rectangular shapes, ovals and any combination and your optician can invent! The hinges are nice and tight, the temples show no wear, even at the ears, and the nose pads are like new, with a nice mother of pearl finish. These frames are in mint condition.

How
to measure for vintage frames. |
Please note that the lenses shown here are for display only. You are purchasing the bridge, temples, hinges and screws. Everything you need for a pair of glasses – just add your own lenses! Rimless frames allow you to pick the shape of your lens - oval, round, octagonal, you name it. The lens and overall width dimensions listed are for the display lenses only. Your own measurements will be determined by your choice of lens. Remember that temples are always measured their full length, hinge to tip, as though they were straightened out. Why? Because they're adjustable, so measurements to the bend will vary based on who wore the frame. Also remember that temples can be changed, so if this length isn't quite right for you, let me know - I may have a matching pair! Lens and bridge measurements are from lens edge to lens edge. Hinge to hinge is measured from screw to screw. I currently have this same model of bridge in a 24 mm and an 18 mm, so you have some sizing options if the rather standard 20-22 range is not a match for you and your own bridge! I'm picky about condition so there are no surprises and can honestly say these glasses are in mint condition. They'll make great everyday glasses or some very cool sunglasses.
