These classic gold wire rim oval antique eyeglasses are in really excellent condition and ready for your prescription lenses. The bridge is marked ''< G O CO >'' and the glasses are otherwise unmarked. Though not indicated by the markings, it's a good bet the frame is 12 karat gold-filled, as are most from the period. Another indicator is the lack of any corrosion or greening.

Here's a pleasing pair of oval frames in outstanding shape. The bridge is very strong and has a nice finish, front and back, unusual for a saddle-style bridge. The rims are quite well-done, very clean and deep. The screws are tested and working well, so installing lenses is no problem. The temples are early cable ones, cable from within an inch of the hinge all the way to the tips, so they're gentle on the ears. Note the finials. They look like balls from a distance, but they're more like cupcakes... round on the very end with sides angled to meet the base, where it intersects the temple. Really nice pair of glasses, ready to go. The hinges move easily and the bridge is smooth and clean. These frames are in really excellent condition.

How to measure for vintage frames.

Wire rims are flexible, so lenses can be made to a variety of oval shapes for this frame. Remember that temples are always measured their full length, hinge to tip, as though they were straightened out. Why? Because they're adjustable, so measurements to the bend will vary based on who wore the frame. Also remember that temples can be changed, so if this length isn't quite right for you, let me know - I may have a matching pair! Lens and bridge measurements are from lens edge to lens edge. Hinge to hinge is measured from screw to screw.

There are minor adjustment markings at the hinges and bridge arms, typical in any frame fitted with lenses. I'm picky about condition so there are no surprises and can honestly say these glasses are in really excellent condition. They'll make great everyday glasses or some very cool sunglasses.
