These classic gold wire rim vintage eyeglasses are in really excellent condition and ready for your prescription lenses. The bridge is marked ''NJO FUL-VUE 1/10 12K GF'' and the arms read ''NJO 1/10 12K GF''. The markings mean the frame is 12 karat gold-filled. The bridge, frame and arms are all engraved with two solid lines.

The manufacturer is New Jersey Optical, lesser-known than the big guys, but they made nice frames. I estimate these date from the middle to late 1940's. Great bridge shape and strong, too. Long temples, clean screws and excellent finish throughout. The hinges are nice and tight, the temples show no wear, even at the ears, and the nose pads are like new, with a nice mother of pearl finish. These frames are in really excellent condition.

How to measure for vintage frames.

Wire rims are flexible, so lenses can be made to a variety of shapes for this frame. The typical style for this frame is a near-round lens often called a ''P3'' shape. Remember that temples are always measured their full length, hinge to tip, as though they were straightened out. Why? Because they're adjustable, so measurements to the bend will vary based on who wore the frame! Lens and bridge measurements are from lens edge to lens edge. Hinge to hinge is measured from screw to screw.

I describe any flaws found while cleaning, but there are no problems to report with this pair. I'm thorough about condition so there are no surprises and can honestly say these glasses are in really excellent condition. They'll make great everyday glasses or some very cool sunglasses.
