These classic gold round wire rim antique eyeglasses are in excellent condition and ready for your prescription lenses. The bridge is marked ''SHURON'' and the arms read ''SHURON DUREX''. Though not indicated by the markings, it's a good bet the frame is 12 karat gold-filled, as are most from the period. Another indicator is the lack of any corrosion or greening. The bridge, frame and arms are all engraved with an elongated diamond pattern.

Outstanding pair of Shuron frames dating from the later 1930's or perhaps into the 1940's. Very generous lens and temple to fit anyone who has ever had trouble fitting into vintage things from back when people (and things) were smaller. The filigree is matching on all parts, so the frames are very likely all-original. The screws are tested and working well, so lenses should be straightforward. The hinges are nice and tight and the nose pads are smooth and clean, with a nice mother of pearl finish. These frames are in excellent condition.

How to measure for vintage frames.

Wire rims are flexible, so lenses can be made to a variety of shapes for this frame. This style was worn round or slightly off-round as you see here, but can also be worn with oval lenses or other shapes. Remember that temples are always measured their full length, hinge to tip, as though they were straightened out. Why? Because they're adjustable, so measurements to the bend will vary based on who wore the frame. Also remember that temples can be changed, so if this length isn't quite right for you, let me know - I may have a matching pair in a better length for you! Lens and bridge measurements are from lens edge to lens edge. Hinge to hinge is measured from screw to screw.

There are normal adjustment markings on the hinges and bridge arms, common on any frame fitted for lenses. There's one small spot of finish wear on the back edge of the bottom of the left rim, not visible when worn and in sound shape and a finish nick on left temple at the ear, also not visible when worn and minor. I'm picky about condition so there are no surprises and can honestly say these glasses are in excellent condition. They'll make great everyday glasses or some very cool sunglasses.
