These classic gold vintage metal eyeglasses are in mint condition and ready for prescription lenses or sunglasses. The bridge is marked ''18'', the frame is marked ''54'' and the arms read ''optura JOHN 135 FRAME W.GERMANY 20/000 12 ct. GF''. The markings mean the frame is 12 karat gold-filled.
Here's a very 1970s frame by Optura, made in West Germany, likely in the later 1970s or maybe into the 1980s. It's gold-filled, a nice feature that should make for a longer-lasting finish. Shiny rims are combined with a heavily brushed finish on the bridge, hinges and temples for a very cool look. The temples are super-thick, very cool and the way the hinges wrap around to the front of the frames is a mighty fine design element. The hinges are strong, three-barrel and all the screws are tested and working properly. The nose pads are screw-in style, easily replaced these days, so no worries there. Superb frames, ready for service!
Temples are measured their full length, hinge to tip, as though they were straightened out. Why? Because they're adjustable, so measurements to the bend vary based on maker and adjustment. Lens and bridge measurements are from lens edge to lens edge. Hinge to hinge is measured from screw to screw. All frames are thoroughly inspected before leaving the Attic. I'm thorough about condition so there are no surprises and these glasses are in mint condition. They'll make great everyday glasses or some very cool sunglasses.
