These classic gold tortoise wire rim eyeglasses are in mint condition and ready for prescription lenses or sunglasses. The frame is marked ''50 19'' and the arms read ''Cottet MADE IN USA 1899 50-19 140'' or, on some, they'll read ''Made in France''.
These are a generous size ''P3'', ''Ful-Vue'' or ''Panto'' frame from Cottet, made within the last two, maybe three decades. They're well-made frames, with strong bridge joints and hinges and a nice filigree pattern on the bridge. The bridge profile is one B&L used back in the 1930s, an interesting bit of eyeglasses trivia. Great frames, ready to go!
Temples are measured their full length, hinge to tip, as though they were straightened out. Why? Because they're adjustable, so measurements to the bend vary. Lens and bridge measurements are from lens edge to lens edge. Hinge to hinge is measured from screw to screw. If you're partial to cable-style temples, this frame can be retro-fit with cable-style tips, great for those of us who like their frames to stay on their heads! The cable ends are listed below and also available on the parts page. I'm thorough about condition so there are no surprises and your frames will be in top condition. They'll make great everyday glasses or some very cool sunglasses.
Plastic cable conversion ends are shown below in black, though I also keep them in brown. I've done quite a few of these for folks and they seem to like them. You can purchase the ends un-installed or have me do the installation. There's more about them on the temples page.
If you have any questions about this pair of glasses or anything else, please don't hesitate to contact me. I try to answer all questions promptly.
