These classic men's tortoise plastic eyeglasses are brand new, mint condition and ready for prescription lenses or sunglasses. The arms are marked ''Anglo American Optical Frame England ce TO brown 33-30'' and the glasses are otherwise unmarked. The plastic has a nice sheen with no cracks, crazing or discoloration and the rivets shine bright.

These are contemporary frames from a great maker, Anglo American Optical, in business in England since the late 1800s. This is their ''Groucho'' model, a frame that harkens back to the oldest tortoise shell frames. These are plastic, what's called Zyl in the optical trade and they're well-made frames. The wide bridge helps to place the smaller lenses directly in front of your pupils and the long hinge extensions help to get those temples around the sides of one's head. The hinges are of the European, three barrel variety and note the great finish at the temple tips, a nice feature. Great frames, ready to go! The hinges are nice and tight, the temples show no wear, even at the ears, and the bridge is smooth and clean. These frames are in mint condition.

Temples are measured their full length, hinge to tip, as though they were straightened out. Why? Because they're adjustable, so measurements to the bend vary based on maker and adjustment. Lens and bridge measurements are from lens edge to lens edge. Hinge to hinge is measured from screw to screw.

I'm occasionally asked if these are authentic Anglo American frames and yes, they really are. They carry the manufacturer warranty. These frames are also available in white and black and can also be had with non-prescription, sunglass lenses as shown here and for no added charge, but they really are made for prescription lenses, so you can have daily wear clear lenses installed or have prescription sunglass lenses, too. Super frames, ready to go! They'll make great everyday glasses or some very cool sunglasses.
